Is there a specific driver in Vista that the iPod must use – think the one in use is USB 2 Mass Storage.ģ. Why did it initially say “Scan and Fix” every time I connected it?Ģ. So here are my questions for which I’m seeking answers:ġ.

Also tried formatting the iPod in Vista Explorer (NTFS), which just hung, so I had to cancel that.

Over the last few days, have tried just about everything including a full clean reinstall of Vista. Have noticed on the iPod that only 13 songs out of around 5000 have synched. Also noticed the iPod had gone off (battery icon still seemed full). When I checked it this morning, the computer was stuck in Power Save (screen was black, and ended up having to shut it down). I eventually got it to restore, and left it to sync overnight. not the one on my new PCI card, but one on the motherboard), the iPod appeared in iTunes. I uninstalled the driver and let Windows do its thing of detecting new hardware, and that problem seemed to go away for a while, but then the iPod could not be seen in iTunes when connected. At this time, removing the iPod was difficult and the only way to do so was selecting “Safely Remove in Explorer”. It started off that whenever I connected my iPod to my PC, I got a Windows message popping up asking if I wanted to “Scan and Fix”. I have some serious iPod issues and would be most grateful if someone could please help me out. I’ve been trying for a long time and I really don’t want to have to be uninstalling and reinstalling itunes every time I want to listen or sync my music to my ipod! Does anybody have any other suggestions that I could try…I’m not giving up! I just wish Apple would put their act together and come up with a decent itunes program that works for all!! Somebody help me!

My laptop has vista premium and I realized when I bought it it had compatibility problems but I really thought itunes would at least work! Well, like 99.9% of you on here, guess what? itunes wont work!! When I install it, it opens and works great but when I close it, it will not, for the life of me, open again! I’ve tried everything! uninstalling, re-installing, changing compatibility mode using properties, I’ve tried uninstalling quick-time and reinstalling it from the apple website and running itunes, and nothing seems to be working! I’m soo tired of itunes but I really like it and want it to work. I was really excited to get a new laptop and hopefully to have itunes working with no problems since my last computer (running xp) was definitely not reliable! sometimes it opened, sometimes it didn’t and sometimes, it took 10 minutes to open! So i upgraded my computer and OS. Other third-party programs do this, but I have rarely found them to work as well as iTunes for Windows, even with all of its faults.I just recently got a new laptop and now a new ipod nano. IPhones can now do most of what you need without iTunes, so you don’t need, nor want this, unless you want to manage movies, music, etc. But, I got my playlist updated, so there’s that. I’m banging my head against my desk as I write this. iCloud always wants to install, and you have to authorize your phone every time you plug it in without iTunes for Windows.

Anything else can be tricky and require looking up how to use it. You think this might all be worth it, but to be honest, I have always found the interface easy to use, assuming you’re just doing the basics. All I want to do is manage my playlist, but Apple wants to take over your PC. It also comes with at least one startup item and a few processes. After installation, you will have Apple Application Support (32 AND 64 bit), Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update, Bonjour (ugh), and one more… oh yeah, iTunes. It wants to take over as your default player.

ITunes for Windows is something most Windows geeks who use an iPhone consider a necessary evil. ITunes for Windows lets you connect and manage your Apple devices to your Windows computer.
